Theft by Deception Arrest in Franklin
On November 12, 2013 a homeowner in Franklin made payment to a contractor in exchange for maintenance to her residence. The contractor allegedly never provided the service after he received payment. The resident/complainant allegedly made several attempts to make contact with the business “A New Hue Coatings LLC” owner, Jonathan F. Wecht 43, of Vernon, to no avail.
On July 18, 2014, the resident came to Franklin Police Headquarters to make a complaint of theft. Officers took the information and detectives followed up on 7/21/2014.
Mr. Wecht was located and taken into custody without incident by Detective Vander Ploeg on 7/21/2014 at approximately 4:00PM in Sparta, New Jersey.
Mr. Wecht is alleged to have taken $1,000.00 and fail to provide a service to the home owner in Franklin. Detective Vander Ploeg charged Mr. Wecht, with theft by deception. Mr. Wecht was released pending an appearance in Sussex County Superior Court.

The complaints that were filed are merely accusations and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty. The charges may be presented to a grand jury for potential indictment.
