Arrest – Burglary, Theft, Poss.of Burglary Tools, Criminal Mischief
On September 17, 2014 at 8:35p.m., Newton Police responded to the parking lot of 55 Diller Avenue for a report of a burglary to a motor vehicle in progress. Upon arrival, the suspect described was observed by patrols walking from the lot.
Subsequent investigation lead to the arrest of Douglas Gray, age 37, of Sparta Avenue who was found to be in possession of a hammer that he had used to break the window of an unoccupied, parked vehicle at that location in order to gain access to the vehicle’s interior.
As a result, Gray was charged with the following offenses:
N.J.S. 2C:18-2a(1) Burglary (3rd Degree)
N.J.S. 2C:17-3a(1) Criminal Mischief (Disorderly Persons)
N.J.S. 2C:5-5a Possession of Burglary Tools (Disorderly Persons)
N.J.S. 2C:20-3a Theft of Moveable Property (Disorderly Persons)
Gray was lodged in the Sussex County Jail in default of $10,000 bail set by Judge John Mulhern.
An additional active warrant was also located for Gray out of Hillsborough Township with a $250.00 bail.
