Forgery and Theft in Franklin Borough
FRANKLIN BOROUGH, NJ – On Friday October 10, 2014 the Franklin Police Department received a report of forgery and theft.
Residents complained of a theft of personal bank checks which were ultimately completed and cashed without their consent. Upon confirmation from the local financial institution, the complainants confirmed that they suffered a monetary loss of over $500.00.
Investigation revealed, William Devore, 26, of Franklin, New Jersey allegedly stole checks in late September and early October of this year and on three separate occasions cashed them for currency at a local financial institution in Franklin, New Jersey.
Mr. Devore was subsequently arrested and charged with theft and three counts of forgery. He was released pending an appearance in Sussex County Superior Court.
The complaints that were filed are merely accusations and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty. The charges may be presented to a grand jury for potential indictment.
