Newton – Forgery/False Documents Arrest
NEWTON – On 1/28/14 at 3:14p.m., Newton Police responded to the New Jersey Division of Motor Vehicles Agency for a report of a male presenting false documents in an attempt to obtain a New Jersey Identification.
Subsequent investigation lead to the arrest of Erick Chocoj, age 26, of Spring Street, Newton for producing a fraudulent Social Security card and a fraudulent passport and identification card from Guatemala.
As a result, Chocoj was arrested and charged with the following offenses:
N.J.S. 2C:21-1A(3) Forgery (Third Degree)
N.J.S. 2C:21-2.1c False Documents (Third Degree)
Bail was set by Judge Mulhern at $15,000.00 no 10% and lodged in the Sussex County Jail in default of bail.
Due to the unclear status of Chocoj being in the United States, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement was contacted.
