New Jersey Outdoor Alliance Endorses Parker Space and Gail Phoebus for Assembly
Assembly duo in Sussex, Warren, & Morris Counties welcome support of the State’s outdoorspeople –
After careful review, Assemblyman Parker Space (R) and Freeholder Gail Phoebus (R) have received the endorsement of the New Jersey Outdoor Alliance (NJOA) in the November 3rd Election in the 24th District.
Assemblyman Space is a member of the New Jersey Angling and Hunting Conservation Caucus (NJAHCC). His family has owned and operated Space Farms Zoo and Museum for 88 years. He is a life-long hunter and teaches responsible gun ownership and promotes sound wildlife policies through educational programs at the zoo.
In addition Assemblyman Space serves on the Assembly Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee and is a voice of common sense on hunting, angling, trapping, natural resource conservation, and other issues of importance to NJOA.
Freeholder Phoebus is no stranger to issues facing the outdoor community. She is a gun owner and has accompanied her husband Bob, himself an expert hunter, on numerous hunting trips around the world. Her family’s business, the Farmstead Golf and Country Club, hosted the Sussex County Federation of Sportsmen’s Clubs annual game dinner for many years. With her generosity, Phoebus has supported numerous outdoor charity events held by such groups as the Friends of the NRA and Ducks Unlimited.
Space and Phoebus have championed legislation to require voter registration forms be made available when applying for a hunting, fishing, or trapping license (A2485); allow licensed dealers to provide firearms for display at fund raising events sponsored by certain tax exempt organizations (A104); provide for no net loss of DEP lands for fishing, hunting, and trapping purposes; (A2453); authorizing Sunday bow hunting on federal military installations and the William J. Hughes Technical Center (A394); and a constitutional amendment ensuring the rights of New Jersey residents to fish and hunt (ACR12).
According to Anthony Mauro, Chairman, NJOA, “The team of Space and Phoebus have demonstrated time and time again their commitment to conservation and to the health of our natural resources by their actions: the bills they introduce and support, and their participation in outdoor activities.”
“Space and Phoebus are supportive of sound bear management policies, including a bear hunt,” Mauro continued. “In addition, they support keeping the structure and responsibilities of the Fish and Game Council and Marine Fisheries Council to minimize political interference in the management of natural resources. ”
