Durban Ave Sends Soldiers Halloween Wishes
Hopatcong – Cynthia Randina, Hopatcong Superintendent of Schools, Announces – The students of Mrs. Moschella’s fourth grade class have been working together to prepare Halloween cards, poems and decorations to send to an Army Unit, part of the Forward Operating Base Apache, in the Zabul Province in Afghanistan. The students have been learning about citizenship in Social Studies and have also been discussing selfless service and how it related to our week of respect at Durban Avenue School. All of the students wanted to express their thanks and how much they appreciated soldiers overseas that keep our country safe and free. Students brought in candy and snacks to fill the large box and will be sending a box of goodies around Thanksgiving to express their thanks. Mrs. Moschella’s students are discussing ideas of how they can show their appreciation come Christmas time. The class has hopes to lead a school-wide Christmas card making project for the entire Forward Operating Base.
