SCCC Veterans Resource Center to Offer Readjustment Counseling
NEWTON, NJ – Sussex County Community College will have a Readjustment Counseling Therapist from the Veteran’s Administration available on Wednesday’s from 9:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. in the Veterans Resource Center located in Building D on the Newton campus beginning on January 22, 2014. Counseling will be available to all combat veterans and their families and is available to SCCC student veterans as well as the public in northwestern New Jersey. Non-combat veterans are eligible for three counseling sessions.
SCCC Veteran Services Coordinator, Mike DeVilliers stated, “Area vets suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, depression or sexual trauma can now turn to a professional Readjustment Counseling Therapist from the VA for help. Offering counseling through our Veterans Resource Center reflects SCCC’s commitment to veterans and their wellbeing and is an extension of programs already in place, like our Veterans Foundations for Success Program, that aid our student vets adjust to the college experience. At SCCC we’re more than just a veteran friendly college, we are dedicated to supporting our vets as they make the adjustment to civilian life and pursue new careers.”
