Suspicious Incident in Hopatcong
DATE: 04/18/15 CASE:15-04294
TIME: 01:06
LOCATION: Durban Road Hopatcong
OFFICER INVESTIGATING: Ptl. Cirri, Sgt. Magrini, Ptl Schultz Ptl. Janosko
ANY OTHER INFORMATION: Officers responded to a home on Durban road for a report of a male who entered a home through an unlocked back door. The male was reported to be highly intoxicated and seemed confused. The male then left the house and took off running. The officers searched the area and found the male laying down in the woods next to the house. The 25 year old male who lives in the area was so intoxicated that he did not know what happened. He was brought to his mother who then looked after him. (The home owner just wanted this young man to get help and did not want charges filed. Therefore, no names are given),
There are two important points to learn here: Everyone everywhere should have their doors locked when at home or not. If your doors are locked while you are home and someone is trying to get in, it can give you those few seconds to call 911 and react. Also, if you are going to drink to the point that you walk into a stranger’s house and do not even know it, it is time to get help. This could have been a tragedy if the homeowner had a shotgun ready for this young man.
