New Jersey State Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) Endorses Parker Space and Gail Phoebus for Assembly
SUSSEX COUNTY, NJ – Assemblyman Parker Space and his running mate Gail Phoebus announced today that the New Jersey State Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) has endorsed their candidacies in the 24th Legislative District that includes all of Sussex County, 11 towns in Warren County and Mt. Olive in Morris County.
“I thank the leadership and members of the State FOP for standing with Gail and myself,” said Space. “I look forward to working together with law enforcement to make the 24th District and New Jersey a safer place.”
Space and Phoebus cited their opposition to Democrat legislation to impose an economic hardship on first responders by forcing them to move to the municipalities in which they are employed; their support of pro-police legislation to totally prohibit motor vehicle ticket quotas; to require police departments to issue identification cards to those who retire in good standing so, under federal law, the retiree can carry a firearm across state lines; to increase penalties for home invasions; and to subject cop killers to the death penalty.
Phoebus, who is running with Space for the Assembly, said “I continue to be humbled by the support by the law enforcement community and the faith they have put in me.
“If elected in November, I promise to hit the ground running and work on issues of importance to police officers and public safety as a whole,” Phoebus stated.
According to their website, “The Fraternal Order of Police is comprised of active and retired law enforcement officers of all ranks from all branches of government.” There are local lodges throughout New Jersey and throughout Sussex, Warren, and Morris Counties.
“We strongly urge our members to register to vote and support our endorsed candidates at the polls on Tuesday, November 3rd,” stated the FOP on their website.
This is the second major endorsement from a law enforcement organization for Space and Phoebus. The New Jersey State Policemen’s Benevolent Association (PBA) endorsed them earlier.
