Hopatcong Police Remind Residents Not to Leave Children, Pets or Elderly in Parked Vehicles in the Heat
DO NOT LEAVE CHILDREN, ELDERLY, NOR PETS IN A PARKED VEHICLE WITH THIS HEAT:
07/03/2015 I responded to Evans Place for a report of two dogs locked in a vehicle. Upon arrival I located two small dogs locked in a blue van that was parked on Evans Place. Only the front driver side and passenger side windows were slightly open. I located the owner of the dogs at Evans Place. Their reasoning for placing the dogs in the van was because those two particular dogs fought a lot with two other dogs that lived in the house. They told me the dogs have been in the van for 4 days. I had the owners remove the dogs from the van. They were warned not to place the dogs back into the van due to the heat and windows not being fully rolled down. They acknowledged they understood.
I then spoke to the complainant who stated the dogs have been in the van for at least two days and she was concerned about their health. The complainant was advised to contact the police if they observe the dogs in the van again.
ACO was notified. Report forwarded to ACO for a follow up.
