The Benefits of an Exercise Program and CKO Franklin’s ‘Spring Into Action’ Challenge
FRANKLIN BOROUGH, NJ – There are benefits to regular exercise beyond strengthened muscles and weight loss. Exercising regularly enables a person to lower their stress levels and reap more energy. It keeps serious health issues at bay or if they are present, helps to suppress them, such as issues with blood pressure, diabetes, arthritis and other health woes.
Darlene Pallay of CKO Franklin advocates through CKO’s programs that optimally individuals should strive to work out three times weekly in 45 minute increments. As a trainer, Pallay guides those who attend CKO through their workouts at all fitness levels and has worked with a gamut of individuals, from those who are very advanced in their fitness journeys to those who have never engaged in an exercise program, and even those who have stopped and restarted a workout program.
Pallay said that with the CKO method, those who are starting a workout program for the first time, as well as those who are starting over after surgery and health issues, could ease back into workouts with one of CKO’s low-impact kickboxing classes. The class is guided with music and those who have physical challenges can have their exercises modified to accommodate issues with parts of their body, which may have been impacted by injuries and other challenges.
Pallay said one of the most important tenets to the CKO method of exercise is the strengthening of the “core” or the body’s middle area, which she said helps to keep the upper and lower body aligned and, when weak, can be the source for back issues.
At the same time, she said, “Every muscle group is targeted,” with a CKO workout, and, “cardio is so important, because it works the heart muscle, the muscle in the body that we must protect the most.”
Having an impact to an exercise routine is important with all age groups, because it keeps the skeletal system strengthened and especially as one ages, the bones can be challenged from issues like osteoporosis. Low-impact workouts protect the bones from injury and breakages.
Pallay describes the environment for all of the CKO Franklin classes as a “very nurturing environment,” where attendees are encouraged and walked through the proper techniques for the exercise program.
One of CKO Franklin’s newest fitness initiatives is the “Spring Into Action” Challenge. This is a contest that begins on Friday, April 15 and runs through Friday, May 27. The challenge is open to members in good standing, as well as non-members and class pass holders.
