DWI Cause of Motor Vehicle Accident in Newton

On 1/11/15 at 2:10a.m., Newton Police responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident on Diller Avenue.  Upon arrival, it was learned that Gina Denyer, age 50, of Edsall Drive, Vernon was operating a 2012 Jeep Liberty southbound on Diller Avenue when she failed to observe a 2010 Volkswagon GTI (being operated by Mohammadz Balatero, age 19 of Newton) to be stopped at a red light at the intersection of Sparta Avenue and struck the rear of his vehicle.

Neither driver was injured as a result of the crash.

Subsequent investigation revealed that Denyer was intoxicated.  As a result, she was summoned for the following:

39:4-97   Careless Driving

39:4-50   Operating a Motor Vehicle While Under the Influence.

Case pending an appearance in Newton Municipal Court.
