Obstruction of Law and Resisting Arrest in Byram

BYRAM TOWNSHIP, NJ – On 1-5-16, the Byram Twp. Police Department received a call regarding an unwanted guest at a residence on Chestnut St. When the officers arrived, Keith M. Ropp of Califon, NJ exited his vehicle and began walking towards the officers. Officers gave him commands to get back into his vehicle and Ropp failed to comply. Ropp continued to walk towards the officers in an aggressive manner and was eventually subdued by the officers who used compliance holds in order to handcuff him. Ropp was transported to the station where he was charged with Obstruction of Law and Resisting Arrest. He was released to a family member pending a mandatory Andover-Joint Municipal Court date.
