PEARLL Yoga for the Soul Becomes Training Center for Yoga Instruction and Reiki
FRANKLIN, NJ – For those who would like to take their Yoga practice to the next level, PEARLL Yoga for the Soul will be offering a Yoga Alliance Certified Training Program. The 200-hour course begins on Friday, Oct. 30, and the schedule will vary over an eight-month period.
“Some sign up [for the instructor training] to develop a deeper understanding of the yoga practice,” said Keri Marino, owner of PEARLL Yoga for the Soul.
Gail Robertiello will be teaching the course. Robertiello and Marino had taught yoga classes at the Bodhi Tree, and when Robertiello was seeking a place to teach, she realized that PEARLL Yoga, located at 91 Main Street in Franklin, was the perfect venue.
“I feel so at home in this place,” said Robertiello of the PEARLL Yoga facility. “I felt it was the perfect setting to come in, forget everything, and feel nurtured, and loved.”
Those interested in the teaching course must register by Oct. 18.
Robertiello is one of the instructors for PEARLL Yoga’s unique “Yoga for Survivors” class on Thursdays from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. This course is for women only and is ideal for those who are wrestling with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and other side effects of trauma.
“To me, yoga is therapy and very healing,” said Robertiello. “It helps the body, mind and soul.”
Once a person completes the instructor course, they will be able to teach yoga at gyms, wellness centers, in town recreation programs, or open their own business. Students in the class will learn the different styles and ways to teach, as well as adapting to certain situations, such as modifying a yoga pose for a student who is pregnant.
On Monday, Nov. 9, the Reiki I Certification course begins at PEARLL with instructor Anna Marie Llamas. It will continue every Monday evening in November following the first session, including: Nov. 16, 23 and 30.
“Reiki is self-healing tools to teach a person to love themselves,” said Llamas. “It teaches a person to work with the energy inside of them to be more grounded in their day. It teaches them the shedding parts of ourselves.”
Following Reiki I, Llamas said, is the Reiki II program, in which the course “allows them [the students] to share it with others to become the healers.”
She said that guided meditation is a part of it, and there’s a metaphysical aspect to Reiki.
“It’s a pathway of healing and an energy modality that anyone can learn,” Llamas continued. “People come when they’re ready to do the work and put things behind them. It’s a pathway to self-realization. It’s a reclaiming of your power.”
Marino said, “Yoga allows one to become a witness to their own healing process. When you move past therapy as a survivor, you need to heal yourself on an ongoing basis. With both Yoga and Reiki, people will be able to turn inward and heal themselves.”
The acronym for PEARLL in “PEARLL Yoga,” stands for Peace, Enlightenment, Awareness, Reawakening, Life and Love. As a survivor of domestic violence, compounded with the effects of PTSD, plus breast cancer, Marino conceptualized a safe haven through yoga that has metamorphosed into PEARLL Yoga for the Soul. In her yoga journey, yoga helped to free her of the grasp of the fear that took root in her soul as part of the trauma that she survived. The studio offers a range of classes for all levels, including the Tween Girls Belly Dancing class. On Sundays are two free classes that Marino leads, including an Open Meditation class and Mixed Level Community Class.
Single class discounts are given to those who are students, veterans, seniors and those referred by DASI (Domestic Abuse and Sexual Assault Intervention Services).
