Motor Vehicle Accident – DWI Arrest/Possession of CDS
On 1/10/15 at 10:59p.m., Newton Police received a report of a motor vehicle accident on Spring Street. Upon arrival, it was learned that a 2011 Acura being operated by Roland Bossi, age 65, of Condit Street, Newton had struck a 2001 GMC Yukon from behind pushing it into the rear of a 2011 Honda Civic. Both vehicles had been legally parked on Spring Street and unoccupied at the time of the collision.
Subsequent investigation revealed that Bossi was intoxicated and in possession of 7 Oxycontin pills (60 mg.), 33 Oxycontin pills (80mg.) and 54 Roxicodone pills (15mg) without having a prescription for same.
As a result, he was charged with the following offenses:
39:4-50 Operating a Motor Vehicle While Under the Influence
39:4-50 Operating a Motor Vehicle While Under the Influence within a 1,000 feet of a School Zone.
39:4-97 Careless Driving
39:4-49.1 Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance in A Motor Vehicle
39:3-29c Failure to Exhibit a Valid Insurance Card
2C:35-10a(1) Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (3rd Degree)
Bossi was not injured in the accident and was processed and released pending an appearance in Sussex County Superior Court on 1/14/15.
