Hopatcong Days Celebrated

HOPATCONG, NJ – Residents and those from around the area celebrated the Hopatcong Days on Friday through Sunday July 10 through 12.
Hoptcong Days kicked off on July 10, when Miss Hopatcong competition took place. Crowns were placed on the heads of Miss Hopatcong, Jr. Miss, Little Miss, Mini Miss and Mini Mr. The winners were Megan Donnelly, Abigail McDonough, Phoenix Sherlock, Vanessa Gleason and James Lake. Donnelly will go on as Hopatcong’s representative in the Queen of the Fair Pageant.
On Saturday, a packed schedule took place with the Hopatcong Days Parade and a “Tribute to Our Soldiers” event, followed by fun throughout the afternoon in Modick Park.

There were rows and rows of tents in the park with vendors and local organizations sharing information. Giveaways were part of the day, with free hot dogs and ice cream, plus free snow cones. Dunkin Donuts had a booth with donuts and drinks for sale with proceeds benefitting the fire department. Hopatcong Boy Scout Troop 88 was selling beef jerky in all varieties to benefit the troop.

The park was filled with people who enjoyed a hot dog eating contest and all of the other fun. A train ride, water slides and climbing wall were among the things to do.

Later on Saturday there was a Movies in the Park event with a screening of “Dolphin Tale 2” and the following day, the volleyball tournament.
