Three DWI Arrests in Hopatcong Borough
UNDERAGE DWI:
NAME OF THE ACCUSED: Calvin Cappuccio
ACCUSED LIVES IN: Brooklyn Stanhope Road Hopatcong
REASON FOR THE STOP: Suspicious activity
CHARGES AGAINST THE ACCUSED: Underage DWI, Reckless Driving and Provisional license violation (too many passengers)
ANY OTHER INFORMATION: Officer Kraus saw a male in the Lakeside Tire parking lot running between cars when it was closed. The male jumped into a car which then left the parking lot. Officer Kraus stopped the car and found that the driver who was Cappuccio was 19 years old and had an odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath. It was found that the male that jumped into Cappuccio’s vehicle had left his moms car there and he was not breaking into anything. Cappuccio was tested for DWI. He was given Field Sobriety Tests and failed. He was arrested and taken to the Police Department. He was given the alcotest and charged. He was later picked up by a friend.

NAME OF THE ACCUSED: Marcie Almakias
ACCUSED LIVES IN: Adams Trail Hopatcong
REASON FOR THE STOP: Called in as a drunk driver
CHARGES AGAINST THE ACCUSED: DWI, Reckless driving and Failure to maintain lanes
ANY OTHER INFORMATION: An anonymous caller reported that a female is driving to the Hopatcong Plaza in a white van and she is drunk. Officer Cirri found a van matching the description and followed it onto Bell Ave from the Rite Aid parking lot. The vehicle was swerving going over the double yellow and the white line. Officer Cirri stopped the vehicle and found that Almakias had been drinking alcohol. She was given Field Sobriety Tests and failed. She was arrested and taken to headquarters. She was given the Alcotest and charged. She was later released to a friend.

ACCUSED LIVES IN: Bucknell Trail Hopatcong
STOPPED BY: Ptl. Sadowski
REASON FOR THE STOP: Person reported that the driver hit a pillar in the plaza and left
ANY RESISTANCE: No
CHARGES AGAINST THE ACCUSED: DWI, Failure to signal turn, Reckless driving, Failure to report an accident, Leaving the scene of an accident, Uninsured vehicle and failure to wear a seatbelt
ANY OTHER INFORMATION: Officer Sadowski responded to the Rite Aid plaza for a report of a white Pontiac that struck a pillar there. The caller said the driver was leaving the parking lot. Officer Sadowski saw this vehicle and stopped it. He found the driver who was Henry had been drinking alcohol. He gave her Field Sobriety Tests and arrested her. She was taken to the Police Department and given the Alcotest. She was charged and later released to a neighbor.
