Franklin Cares Offering 50+ Cardiac Care Day for Uninsured Free Cardiac Screenings for High Risk Residents
Franklin, NJ – On Sunday October 25th, Franklin Cares will offer Free Cardiac Evaluations to uninsured and high-risk residents 50 and over who live in Franklin and the surrounding area. Appointments are required and people will be accepted on a first call, first serve basis.
Screenings will be performed at the Franklin Health & Wellness Center, home of Franklin Cares. The cardiac evaluation consists of a Medical History, EKG, Echocardiogram and Blood Pressure screening. Participants will be advised of proper follow-up procedures if necessary. People at high-risk are defined as those 50 and over without medical coverage who smoke, drink or use drugs, or are overweight. Others may call to inquire if they qualify as at risk.
Dr. Jean-Paul Bonnet of Skylands Medical Group and Dr. Robert Masci of Cardiology Associates of Sussex County will perform the evaluations as a community service and volunteers of Franklin Cares. NORWESCAP will also offer information regarding health care options to those without medical insurance.
Dr. Bonnet noted “Many people in the Franklin area need these screenings. They face potential danger when not seen by a doctor – especially if considered medically high risk. If you don’t have insurance or the high cost of health care is keeping you away, we want to ensure you’re not in danger. We’re grateful to Cardiology Associates of Sussex County for helping to make this day possible. Giving back to the region is the focus of Franklin Cares.”
Residents are asked to call 973.862.1939 for an appointment. The appointment is required. A $10 contribution is appreciated to help Franklin Cares pay it forward to someone else, but not mandatory. SCREENINGS ARE LIMITED TO 25 APPOINTMENTS. Evaluations will take place at Franklin Health & Wellness Center, home of Franklin Cares at 406 Route 23 in Franklin NJ. Hours are 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM, advance appointments are required. Entrance is in the back of the Skylands Medical building, at the street entrance.
