Intoxicated Driver Damages Newton Municipal Building with Vehicle
On Wednesday August 13, 2014 at approximately 3 PM, Newton Police Dispatchers heard several loud noises coming from the front of the building and then observed surveillance cameras showing a vehicle driving off of the front sidewalk and then parking. The female driver exited the vehicle, looked over the vehicle’s front-end damage and then walked into the municipal building.
Officers immediately responded and located the driver, who was identified as Ann Frawley, age 53 of Stillwater. Damage was observed to several pillars in front of the Newton Municipal building that was consistent with the damage to the front of her vehicle. The vehicle had been driven from Trinity Street onto the front walkway and along the sidewalk in front of the Police Department before being parked. Nobody was injured during the incident.
Further investigation by Officers resulted in the arrest of Frawley for driving while intoxicated. She was processed at headquarters and released to a family member pending Court. She was issued summonses charging her with D.W.I. NJSA 39:4-50 and Careless Driving NJSA 39:4-97.
The incident was investigated by Sgt. Michael Monaco and Det. Steve VanNieuwland.
