1. Mystery of Claytonia Joaquin Dorticus
A young Cuban arrives in Newton, NJ. He becomes a professional photographer, inventor and director. He leaves Newton for New York City and dies a few years later. His body is returned to Newton and is buried in an unmarked grave. He leaves behind a body of work that the Sussex County Historical Society will share with you during the month of February. The exhibit opens on Saturday Feb. 8 2014 at 10:00.

2. History Alliance Meeting
William Truran author of Sparta, NJ: Head of the Wallkill and Mining for America:The Franklin-Sterling Hill, NJ Zinc Mines will be the speaker. Truran will talk about the possible shared History Alliance possible larger vision and possible shared projects. Each organization will be asked to consider and discuss their assets and future plans.
The event will take place Monday Feb. 24 at 7:00 at the Sussex County Arts and Heritage Society building

3. Basic Genealogy: Resources and Strategies
Tuesday, February 25, 2014 7:00 P.M.
Valerie A.G. Stern, Certified Genealogist, will give a talk on beginning genealogy: what to look for, where to find it and what to do with it. She will suggest where to start, what to look for, research resources and strategies.
A $5.00 fee will be charged, the event is free for members.
The event, will be held at the Sussex County Historical Society,62 Main Street Newton, NJ 07860 the public is invited.
