NJ Approved Uniform Construction Code Program Offered at SCCC

NEWTON, NJ – Sussex County Community College (SCCC) is offering a variety of Uniform Construction Code courses at the SCCC campus through their Community Education division. Whether you’re interested in working for an inspection company or a municipality as an inspector, you need training. Getting quality training close to home makes the process of obtaining your certification and licensing that much easier.

The following courses are available for our fall 2014 semester:

Building Inspector ICS – This 75-hour course provides students with the training required by the State for licensure under this title. Topics include: structural design and analysis techniques, materials and standards, field identification of requirements, inspection techniques, inspection tools and methods; and related topics. Prerequisite: Building Inspector RCS. The course meets Tuesday and Thursday evenings beginning on September 11 and costs $700.

Electrical Inspector HHS – This 45-hour course meets the State’s standard for educational program requirements to become licensed as a New Jersey Electrical Inspector HHS. The course provides classroom instruction and deals with the duties and responsibilities of (HHS) high-rise and hazardous structures, electrical plan review and inspection. The instructor especially emphasizes on code requirements, regulations, and manufacture specifications for the installation of the various types of electrical systems as well as the rehabilitation and barrier-free subcodes, plan review, and field inspections. Prerequisite: Electrical Inspector ICS. The course meets Monday evening beginning on September 15. The cost is $575.

Plumbing Inspector ICS – Part One – This two-semester course provides students with the knowledge required by the state of New Jersey for licensure under this title. This course will cover national standard plumbing code, international mechanical code, and international fuel gas code. Residential mechanical requirements and related topics required by the Uniform Construction Code.   This course meets Tuesday and Thursday evenings beginning on September 9 and the cost is $625.
