Newton Resident Arrested for Threatening Victim with a Handgun
On 11/08/14, Newton Police received information that a male subject had threatened a victim with a handgun earlier that day at a Spring Street apartment.
Subsequent investigation provided that Scott Petrick, age 23, of 196 Spring Street was in possession of a 9mm Hi-Point Pistol which he subsequently used to threaten the victim outside of his apartment.
As a result, Petrick was taken into custody and charged with the following offenses:
N.J.S. 2C: 39-4a Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purpose, 2nd degree
N.J.S. 2C: 39-5b Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, 2nd degree
N.J.S. 2C: 12-1b(4) Aggravated Assault, 4th degree
Bail for above offenses was set at $77,500.00 by Newton Municipal Court Judge John E. Mulhern. Petrick was lodged at the Sussex County jail in default of bail.
Weapon was located and retained by the Newton Police Department.
