Newton Police – CDS Arrest
On 5/9/14 at 11:30p.m., Patrolman John Flanagan stopped a red, 2011 Hyundai for speeding and an equipment violation (headlight out) on Sparta Avenue. While in the process of obtaining the occupant’s credentials, Ptl. Flanagan observed several marijuana stems within the interior of the vehicle which was being operated by Alyssa Bach, age 23, of Dartmouth Trail, Hopatcong, N.J.
Further investigation resulted in the discovery of a blue glass smoking device which was admittedly used for smoking marijuana and a clear container with several marijuana stems and residue inside. All items were recovered and retained for evidence.
As a result, Bach was charged with the following offenses:
N.J.S. 2C:35-10a(4) Possession of Less than 50 grams of Marijuana (Disorderly Persons)
N.J.S.2C:36-2 Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Disorderly Persons)
Bach was additionally issued the following motor vehicle summons:
39:4-98 Speeding
39:3-66 Maintenance of Lamps
39:4-49.1 Possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle.
Bach was processed and released pending a 5/27/14 court appearance in Newton Municipal Court.
