Franklin Mayor Asks Councilman David Fanale to Resign
FRANKLIN BOROUGH, NJ – I have become aware and personally seen a recent Facebook post by Councilman David Fanale. While I continue to support Mr. Fanale, and all Americans’ Constitutional free speech rights, I find his latest post is highly offensive and crosses the line of common decency.
It is my opinion that this latest post is a thinly veiled attack on a local official.
It has been reported to me that a group of Franklin voters are actively promoting a recall movement to remove Mr. Fanale from office. The Mayor and Council have no legal standing in removing an elected official for offensive or disagreeable comments or political stands.
I have come to the conclusion that the furor and upheaval created by Mr. Fanale is harmful to the Borough and that Mr. Fanale can no longer effectively function as an elected official in Franklin Borough.
I have contacted Councilman Fanale this morning and requested that he resign his position effectively immediately. This is a personal request from me and is not a motion from the Franklin Mayor and Council.

Your personal request noted… On July 8th, this should be a motion by the mayor and council should Fanale refuse your personal request.
