Pedestrian Struck in Newton – Driver Issued Summons
NEWTON – On Tuesday February 10, 2015 at 11:43 a.m., Newton Police responded to the intersection of Trinity Street and Union Place for a report of a pedestrian who was struck by a motor vehicle.
Investigation revealed that Michael Malone, age 85, of Trinity Street was crossing Trinity Street southbound within the crosswalk when he was struck by a 1997 Jeep being operated by Jaclyn Smith, age 21, of Franklin, who was making a left hand turn from Union Place onto Trinity Street in a westerly direction.
Malone was transported to the Newton Medical Center by Newton First Aid Squad for a complaint of pain to his leg.
Smith was issued a summons for Failing to Yield to a Pedestrian NJSA 39:4-36.
The matter is pending an appearance in Newton Municipal Court.
