Arrest for Child Pornography in Newton
On October 14, 2014, an investigation was initiated after a person reported electronic devices belonging to Richard Rich, age 46 of High Street, Newton contained images of child pornography.
After subsequent investigation, the devices were searched by Detective Anne Psaroudis of the Sussex County Prosecutor’s Office and several images were found depicting females less than 16 years of age, who were semi-nude and nude and were engaged in simulated sex acts and/or sex acts.
As a result, Rich was arrested and charged with the following offenses:
N.J.S. 2C:24-4b(5)(b) Possession or Viewing Child Pornography (3rd Degree)
N.J.S. 2C:7-2(d)(2) As A Person Required To Register As A Sex Offender, Failed to Notify Of Routine
N.J.S. 2C:28-3a Providing False Information (4th Degree)
Rich was lodged in the Sussex County Jail on $40,000 bail with no 10% option set by Judge John Mulhern.
Case pending an appearance in Sussex County Superior Court on 12/17/14 at 8:30a.m.
