Motor Vehicle Crash Leads to Arrest for CDS

BYRAM TOWNSHIP, NJ – On 12-4-15, the Byram Twp. Police Department responded to a motor vehicle crash on Rt. 206 S near Waterloo Road. While at the crash scene, one of the officers obeserved drug paraphernalia on the floor board of one of the involved vehicles. The driver, Joseph A. Beltran of Newton stated there may be other paraphernalia in the vehicle. A search of the vehicle produced more paraphernalia and a quantity of marijuana. Beltran was arrested, transported to the station, processed and charged with the following: Possession of Under 50g of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance in a Motor Vehicle. He was released pending a mandatory Andover-Joint Municipal Court date.
