Possession of CDS and Drug Paraphernalia During a Traffic Stop – Newton
On 10/3/15 at 11:20p.m., Sgt. Michael Monaco observed the operator of a tan 2002 Buick LeSabre fail to use his turn signal while making a turn onto Main Street. The driver then failed to use a turn signal a second time as he turned off of Main Street onto Nelson Street.
The vehicle was stopped on Nelson Street and upon approaching the vehicle, the odor of raw marijuana was detected. Subsequent investigation revealed (2) small bags of marijuana and a package of rolling papers within the vehicle.
As a result, the driver, Luis Grisales-Gomez, age 22, of Spring Street, Newton was arrested and charged with the following offenses:
2C:35-10a Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (Marijuana -under 50 grams) Disorderly Persons
2C:36-2 Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Rolling Papers) Disorderly Persons
39:4-126 Failure to Signal
Grisales-Gomez was then released pending his appearance in Newton Municipal Court on 10/13/15.
