Locals Help Out the Sarrecchia Family – How You Can Help
SPARTA – Residents in the area are mourning the heartbreaking passing of Sal Sarrecchia, a beloved Sparta resident who many children knew as their softball coach, who died suddenly during the early morning hours of May 18, in a multi-car accident on Route 287 in Bernards Township.
Tragically enough, Sal and his wife Nicole were involved in the accident, which triggered a domino-effect because of a driver who was driving while intoxicated and three times over the legal limit. The airbags deployed in the Sarrecchia vehicle and Sal called out to Nicole. Nicole, who battles Multiple Sclerosis was unable to respond, unbeknownst to Sal because she suffered a broken sternum.
The tragedy further intensified when Sal told Nicole he was coming around the other side of the vehicle to assist her and while on foot, a third vehicle proceeded towards the scene and hit Sal and then their vehicle.
Local efforts have begun to help the family (there are four children), who will sadly be laying Sal to rest tomorrow. For those who would like to help Nicole and the children, a couple of the efforts are below.
One is a Give Forward Fundraiser, with a 90-day duration. The goal is to raise $500,000 to help the family. So far, they are three percent towards that goal, with $13,175 raised.
Another local effort is the Braidcelet Facebook Page, in which bracelets are being fashioned by some generous-hearted local young ladies and all of their proceeds will benefit the family. The Braidcelets are $4 each or three for $10. For those outside of the area, they can be shipped to you with a $2 additional to your order for shipping and there is a special PayPal account set up, Braidcelet@yahoo.com.
