Hopatcong Man Trapped Under Car
DATE: 02/27/15 CASE:15-02148
TIME: 21:02
LOCATION: Adams Trail
OFFICER INVESTIGATING: Ptl Kraus
ANY OTHER INFORMATION: A 29 year old male was working under his car using the vehicle jack. The jack slipped and the vehicle came down on him. He was uninjured but could not get out from under the vehicle. The Hopatcong Fire Department and Hopatcong EMS arrived. They jacked up and blocked the vehicle. The male was then pulled out. He was checked by EMS and signed off that he did not need medical attention.
For us backyard mechanics it is so tempting to use just the jack and crawl under the vehicle. Especially when you will only be under there for a short time. The jacks that come with vehicles are cheap. Break the lock off of your wallet and get a good floor jack. Take the time to use jack stands. If not, we may have to come and pull you out, dead or alive.
