A Mother’s Call Leads to Drug Arrests

ANY OTHER INFORMATION: A mother called the Hopatcong Police because she believed her 17- year old daughter was using her car to buy heroin with some people. Detective Sutphen knew the juvenile. He saw the vehicle and saw that the juvenile was driving past the provisional’s allowed driving hours. When Detective Sutphen stopped the car he found 4 passengers besides the driver. Officer Kraus backed up Detective Sutphen. The occupants were questioned and all had different stories. The mother was asked to come to the motor vehicle stop and she did. She allowed the officers to look in the vehicle. After speaking with the occupants and searching the vehicle the following people were arrested and charged:
-17 year old driver: Possession of heroin for having two empty folds with residue in her wallet, provisional driving violations of driving after hours and driving with to many occupants, and possession of CDS in a vehicle. She was later charged and released to her mother.
– Christopher Mills of Elmira Trail Hopatcong, Age: 33 charged with Possession of crack cocaine, Possession of heroin, Possession of a hypodermic needle, Possession of paraphernalia (push rod and brillow balls used to smoke crack) and destruction of evidence (he had heroin and a needle in his underwear. He attempted to flush them in the cell at headquarters but was stopped by Officer Kraus) He was taken to the Sussex County Jail in lieu of $20,000.00 bail issued by Hopatcong Municipal Court Judge Bowkley.
– Paul Fortunato of Biscay Drive Flanders, Age: 24 charged with Possession of heroin, Possession of a hypodermic needle and possession of Xanax without a prescription. He had in his pocket a plastic bag that contained a brick of heroin, bundles of heroin and loose folds of heroin. In another pocket he had a small plastic wrapper with Xanax pills in it and a brown paper bag that was wrapped around two hypodermic needles. He was later brought to the Sussex County Jail in lieu of $10,000.00 bail issued by Hopatcong Municipal Court Judge Bowkley
– Marissa Alberty of Main Street Netcong, Age: 32 charged with Possession of heroin, Possession of a hypodermic needle, Possession of Suboxone and Obstruction. She had a back pack in the trunk that had two needles, two bundles of heroin and a small plastic wrapper that had loose heroin folds and several pills one being Suboxone. She lied about who she was because she had a $400.00 warrant out of Jefferson. Jefferson Police would not come and pick her up on this warrant but gave her a court date to show up. She was later released on a summons complaint
– Thomas Rando of Main Street Netcong Age: 27 He had an outstanding warrant out of Roxbury. Roxbury police responded to the scene and arrested him on their warrant. He was not charged with any CDS offenses at that time.
