Garbage Truck Strikes Utility Pole in Newton
NEWTON, NJ – On 3/8/16 at 7:27a.m., Newton Police received a report of a garbage truck striking a utility pole in front of 46 Trinity Street.
Upon arrival, it was determined that Brian Grimshaw, age 54, of Bangor, Pennsylvania was operating a Sanico garbage truck and was making a right turn from a driveway onto Trinity Street when he struck a utility pole causing it to break in half.
As a result, Trinity Street was closed for approximately 4 hours while the pole was replaced by Century Link.
Grimshaw did not sustain any injury from the accident and the garbage truck was able to be driven from the scene.
Grimshaw was issued a summons for careless driving.
