Hopatcong Police Investigate Consumer Complaints of Water in Gas Purchases
HOPATCONG, NJ – The Hopatcong Police received two complaints on 03/23/15 from customers whose cars would not run after getting gas at the Enrite Gas Station on Hopatchung Road in Hopatcong. Both of these vehicles were taken to mechanics who found over 50% of the fuel was water. (Cases 15-03105, 15-03106)
Officer Barta went to the Enrite and spoke to an employee of TechSmart Service Group who was working on the pumps. He was there to determine why the pumps were running slow. Officer Barta told him of the motorists with water in their gas. He checked the tanks and found that there was 4-5 inches of water in the middle “regular gas” holding tank.
Officer Barta contacted the owner of Enrite who is Mr. Singh of P&I Holdings Co. Inc 2030 S. Wood Ave Linden NJ 07036. Mr. Singh did not know how there can be water in the holding tank since it is new. Mr Singh stated to have anyone that had a problem with their vehicle to contact him when they have an estimate of the damage from the water in the gas.
