Free Responsible Beverage Server Training for Newton Servers to Promote Alcohol Safety
The Center will be offering a free TIPS Responsible Beverage Server training on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 from 9:30 – 2:00 pm at the Dennis Library on Main Street in Newton to teach servers how to prevent drunk driving, underage drinking and alcohol abuse. This FREE training is offered to Newton Establishments that provide alcohol to their customers. Session participants will become certified in the TIPS (Training for Intervention Procedures) program and will receive a TIPS certification card valid for three years. Each establishment represented will also receive a 2015 ID Checking Guide Book and a chance to win an Incident Report Binder. Refreshments will be served.
TIPS trainings enhance the people skills of the servers, sellers and consumers of alcohol. Program participants are trained by certified instructors to detect the signs of intoxication and gain the confidence needed to intervene effectively to prevent alcohol related problems. Participants also learn to identify underage people and people who are already intoxicated. This certification course is made possible through Action Municipal Alliance. Registration is required and limited; please contact Annmarie Shafer at The Center at 973-383-4787.
