Benjamin Britten’s Saint Nicolas is a 50-minute dramatic cantata that tells the story of the real Saint Nicolas, who lived from 270-343 AD. Dr. Jason Bishop, Director of Choral Activities at Drew attended a rehearsal with the Children’s Chorus of Sussex County on Sunday, October 25th, to listen to and conduct the Concert Choir through the sections that Britten wrote for children to sing. Garrett Vanni will sing the role of Young Nicolas and Garrett will join with Corey Gerth and Adarsh Varghese to sing the roles of the Pickled Boys in the famous work.
The Concert Choir will join forces with the Drew University Choirs singing Dr. Bishop’s arrangement of The Little Drummer Boy as well as Jim Papoulis and Francisco Nunez, Sing For Peace and the familiar carol, O Come All Ye Faithful, arranged by David Willcocks. Each of the choirs will also sing a few selections of their own.
