Car Show at SCCC Benefits College, Newton Fire Department and 9/11 Charities
NEWTON, NJ – The blue skies and comfortable temperatures on Sunday, August 17, made for the ideal setting for the 9/11 Memorial Open Car Show, hosted by the Pocono Mountains Corvette Club at Sussex County Community College.
Classic cars from pre-1940 up to modern day vehicles, and everything in between, were on show yesterday. Doc South offered classic oldies favorites to play as spectators perused the vehicles, and vehicle owners soaked up the sun, sitting next to their prized vehicles.
The Newton Fire Department grilled burgers and other treats, and those stopping by to their tent for food, could also sit on the college grounds to eat, or under another tent with tables. The department, which cooked as a fundraiser, had their 1948 Mack as well at the event.
The Pocono Mountains Corvette Club also held a tricky tray to raise funds.
Funds raised from the event were slated to benefit Sussex County Community College, the Newton Fire Department and various 9/11 charities.
Trophies were given out for entries, including: “Best of Show,” “Peoples Choice,” “Participants Choice,” and “Fireman’s Choice.”
