Drug and Warrant Arrest in Newton
On 2/8/15 at 12:58p.m., Sgt. Michael Monaco was on patrol in the area of North Park Drive and Mill Street conducting a traffic enforcement detail when he stopped the driver of a 1988 Toyota Corolla for not having an inspection sticker on the vehicle. A subsequent check of NJDMV records identified the operator of the vehicle as Dustin Wetterauw, age 22 of Sussex, NJ and that his driver’s license was currently suspended.
A warrant check revealed an active warrant out of the Vernon Municipal Court. Wetterauw was arrested and a search of his person revealed an aluminum foil marijuana smoking pipe in his pants pocket.
As a result, he was charged with the following:
N.J.S. 2C:36-2 Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
39:3-40 Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended Driver’s License
39:8-1 Failure to Inspect
Wetterauw was processed and released after posting $800.00 bail set by Judge James Devine.
