Community Invited to Create Hospital Sculptures with Artist
NOVEMBER 2014 – Atlantic Health System is looking for a few good artists.
The parent organization of Morristown, Overlook, Newton and Chilton Medical Centers and Goryeb Children’s Hospital is inviting members of the community to come to each medical center to work alongside artist Dan Fenelon, of Morristown, who will be creating a sculpture unique to each medical center.
Fenelon’s work at each site over the course of two weeks in November is part of Atlantic Health System’s Artist in Residence Program, in partnership with Morris Arts, and will celebrate Arts in Healthcare Month.
“As part of our vision, to empower our communities to be the healthiest in the nation, we’re welcoming visitors, patients, staff and anyone who is interested to share their creativity for a lasting piece of artwork that will inspire all who come to our hospitals,” said Maria Regina Lupo, manager of Healing Arts and a registered art therapist for Atlantic Health System. “We’re honored to have an artist of Dan Fenelon’s caliber guiding this collaboration with the community.”
Fenelon graduated from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, Mass., and went on to work as a graphic designer, illustrator and fine artist. Dan’s art infuses a blend of pop, cartooning, modernism and tribalism along with an explosion of vibrant colors. He has shown his work nationally and is currently represented by galleries in New York and New Jersey. He has been commissioned for murals throughout the United States.
Fenelon will work at each site on the following dates and times. For more information, call 973-660-3533, visit www.atlantichealth.org/healingarts, or e-mail healingarts@atlantichealth.org.
