Mayors Honored at Dinner
ANDOVER TOWNSHIP – Sussex County Mayors were honored yesterday evening, Thursday, Oct. 17, at a special Sussex County Mayors’ Dinner, coordinated by the Sussex County Chamber of Commerce and Sussex County Economic Development Partnership. Farmstead Golf & Country Club was the setting for the event.
The Mayor of the Year was honored. This year’s mayor chosen was Hardyston Township Mayor Leslie Hamilton.
Along with dinner, was a special presentation by the County of Sussex on Vision 2020, a plan to create sustainable economic growth within Sussex County. The GIS (Geographical Information Systems) updates were also a topic of discussion, and how the system can be used as a planning tool for existing and new development within the municipalities.
Mayors in attendance at the event, in addition to Hamilton, included: Tom Walsh (Andover Township), Jim Oscovitch (Byram Township), Sam Castimore (Frankford Township), Carl Lazzaro (Fredon Township), Dan Conkling (Green Township), Paul Marino (Hamburg Borough), Dan Caranoto (Deputy Mayor Hampton Township), Joseph Ricciardo (Town of Newton), Fred MacDonald (Sandyston Township), Gil Gibbs (Sparta Township), Charles Gross (Stillwater Township), and Ron Bassini (Wantage Township).
Other dignitaries in attendance were: Senator Steven Oroho (Legislative District 24), Lori Space Day (Sussex County Board of Agriculture) and Gary Chiusano (Sussex County Surrogate).
Area business owners and business and organizational representatives rounded out the attendees.
