Hundreds Enjoy The Lego Movie at Sparta’s Summer Movies in the Park Series
SPARTA, NJ – Last night, Saturday August 16, was the last movie night of the season in Sparta Township.
Hundreds of people gathered in Dykstra Park with lawn chairs, blankets and more for the final free Family Movie Night.
The movie nights are free and feature music spun by a D.J. before the show. Free popcorn is one of the treats. The Sparta Kiwanis have been to the films with refreshments for sale. Last night, an ice cream truck was also nearby. People attending also bring their own snacks to celebrate the festivities.
There was a slight chill in the air, but the weather held out for the fun with the season’s final flick, The Lego Movie.
Previous films included Frozen and Iron Man 3.
Sparta Councilwoman Chris Quinn was at the event and helped to coordinate giveaways during the evening.
In Sparta, there is one more free Friday concert for the summer season, on August 22, Rhett Tyler & Early Warning, with shows also at Dykstra Park.
A couple of other towns are hosting movie nights, with Frozen at Lodestar Park in Fredon beginning around 8 p.m. on Thursday, August 21, and the Town of Newton hosting a “Flick and Float” event at the Town Pool on Saturday, August 23. The event at Lodestar Park is free, with food and drinks available for purchase. The event at the Newton Town Pool is free for pool members, and $5 for non-members. The event at the Newton Town Pool begins at 6:45 p.m. with a sing-along, and pizza and frozen treats will be for sale.
