Arrests for Heroin Possession and Distribution in Newton
On Wednesday August 20, 2014, Newton Police Detectives worked in cooperation with Detectives from the Sussex County Guns, Gangs & Narcotics Task Force with the arrest of several individuals as a result of ongoing drug distribution investigations occurring in and around the Town of Newton.
10:21 AM – Joseph Colon, age 23 of Newton, was arrested during a motor vehicle stop on Sparta Avenue. Colon was charged with the following:
- Two counts of Distribution of CDS (heroin) NJSA 2C:35-5a(1)(b)(3) 3rd Degree Crimes
Colon was processed and lodged in the Sussex County Jail in default of $15,000 no 10% bail.
10:25 AM – Joseph McClinch, age 30 of Newton and Richard Dobrowolski, age 35 of Vernon, were arrested after Detectives observed them engaging in a suspected drug deal on Trinity Street near Union Place. Upon their arrest, McGlinch was found to be in possession of 10 bags of heroin and a hypodermic needle. Dobrowolski was in possession of a hypodermic needle.
McGlinch was charged with the following:
- One count of Possession of CDS (heroin) NJSA 2C:35-10a(1) 3rd Degree Crime
- Two counts of Distribution of CDS (heroin) NJSA 2C:35-5a(1)(b)(3) 3rd Degree Crimes
- Two counts of Distribution of CDS (heroin) in a School Zone. NJSA 2C:35-7 3rd Degree Crimes
He was processed and lodged in the Sussex County Jail with no bail set on the warrant. McGlinch was also wanted in NCIC for a Violation of Parole warrant from Queens, New York.
Dobrowolski was charged with:
- Possession of a Hypodermic Needle NJSA 2C:36-6 Disorderly Persons Offense
Dobrowolski was released from police custody after being processed and served with a Complaint Summons to appear in Court.
