Newton Police Seeking Leads in Death Investigation

NEWTON, NJ – The human remains found on the Armory property off of South Park Drive in Newton on October 30th have been positively identified as Mary P. McCaffrey, a 59 year old woman who has previously resided in Newton. Next-of-kin have been notified. The cause and manner of her death have not yet been determined, however no evidence of trauma or foul play have been found. A cooperative investigation between the Sussex County Prosecutor’s Office and the Newton Police Department is continuing. Anyone who may have information about McCaffrey, her last known contact with anyone as well as any friends/associates is asked to contact the Newton Police Department Detective Bureau at: (973)383-2525.
