NEW JERSEY – Democratic Congressional Candidate Josh Gottheimer is now chronicled as a part of Wikileaks.
As part of the Podesta Emails collection, the contender looking to unseat Republican incumbent Scott Garrett in the 5th District, has his name as a search string within the Wikileaks’ email collection (click here to search Gottheimer in Wikileaks), as well as even a Google Search under the thread “Josh Gottheimer Wikileaks” (click here to search about this topic on Google), with the Wikileaks emails populating under his name in Google, underneath his Gottheimer for Congress website.
Beginning as early as 2014, the emails in the Podesta collection reflect Josh Gottheimer’s name, beginning with an article that references Gottheimer in the Wall Street Journal blog from Nov. 19, 2014, for a “possible Hillary Clinton Run.” (click here for the Wikileaks email). Emails in the collection also show Podesta was invited to fundraising events, and attacks against Garrett were suggested via email to Podesta.
Gottheimer helped to organize a dinner in New Jersey with “Democratic fundraisers and political operatives” in Newark after Clinton announced her run.
“About three dozen people are expected to attend,” the publication wrote. “The organizers are Michael Kempner, a public relations executive, and Josh Gottheimer, who worked in Bill Clinton’s White House. The pair organized a similar event last month.”
The emails show that John Podesta, the 2016 Chairman of the Hillary Clinton Campaign, was also a personal recipient of campaign emails from Gottheimer and his campaign, as well as was an invited guest to fundraising events for Gottheimer.
In a Dec. 26, 2015 email about a New York Times article discussing Gottheimer’s campaign, he described to his supporters, including Podesta how “out of touch my Tea Party opponent, Scott Garrett, is with the values of New Jersey and our country.”
From there, Gottheimer sought support: “Can you please chip in now to make sure that we finish strong? We need solutions, not extremism; that’s what my race is all about.” Click here for the email on Wikileaks.
In another email to Podesta on July 16, 2015 headed “Gottheimer and Garrett,” Jake Siewert, Goldman Sachs Head of Corporate Communications and Press Secretary under Bill Clinton also copied Jennifer Palmieri, “Feel like HRC [Hillary Rodham Clinton] and the campaign should torque that issue up today.” Click here for this email.
The Google Screenshot reveals a colorful guest list to a fundraiser for Gottheimer on May 4, 2015 that Podesta was personally invited to. Click here to view the email directly on Wikileaks.
The email, pictured in the screenshot below, is from James Doyle, an attorney and lobbyist, who invited Podesta to the fundraiser, addressing Gottheimer casually in the email to Podesta, only by his first name “Josh.”
“John, I know you’re swamped, but if you happen to be in DC on Monday night, Patti and I are organizing a fundraiser for Josh. We’d love to have you join us. Thanks, Jim.”
Below are some of the invited guests to that fundraiser, including Jennifer Palmieri, who has been scorned in the press for her commentary in Wikileaks emails:
Paul Begala – American political consultant and a Clinton advisor. Begala is also a CNN political consultant.
Guy Cecil – Hillary Clinton’s 2008 political director.
Teddy Goff – President Barack Obama’s Digital Director in the 2012 Election. Goff additionally worked for the President in the 2008 election. He has been working as a digital expert on Hillary Clinton’s campaign.
Jennifer Palmieri – Hillary Clinton’s Director of Communications. News has been swirling about Palmieri’s emails found within the Podesta Wikileaks emails, including her purported disparaging comments about Catholicism, Evangelicals and Republicans.
Capricia Marshall – Chief of Protocol at the State Department. Emails turned up with Marshall within the Wikileaks collection, some coined in the press as “embarrassing.” Included within Marshall’s emails was Clinton’s fundraiser list.
Stephanie Cutter – Political Consultant and Obama 2012 Deputy Campaign Manager.
Former White House Chief of Staff Mack McLarty was another guest at the 2015 event.
Following that 2015 fundraiser, Kristin Heidkamp from Gottheimer’s campaign sent a solicitation email, which was also sent to Podesta. It asked supporters for $250, with claims in the June 29, 2015 email that Gottheimer was short of his financial goals. Click here to view it on Wikileaks.
An email paid for by Josh Gottheimer for Congress, sent from Ridgewood, NJ from his campaign email address, landed in the Podesta emails too, advising Podesta of a location change for a Feb. 26, 2016 event. Click here to view the original email.
In another email of support for Hillary Clinton’s candidacy in New Jersey (click here), Gottheimer is on an email distribution with New Jersey Senator Steve Sweeney (D-3), as well as Huma Abedin, Hillary Clinton’s personal assistant. Lew Candura, the veteran Chairman of the Morris County Democratic Committee, was the sender of this email.
