Was 9/11 not enough for everyone?
What about the attacks in Paris?
How about San Bernardino, which has been coined as “workplace violence?”
How about the death of Brendan Tevlin in New Jersey, who was killed simply because he was an American?
And now the world grieves with Belgium over another terrorist attack.
This post may initiate more pushback than Presidential Candidate Donald Trump has received for many of the things he has proposed including his proposal to ban Muslim immigration into the United States. This column was actually something I started to pen before Christmas, but held off finishing because of the angry climate we were all dealing with. And I feared I may have come across as angry.
But it is time for us to be mad, and ask our governments to take action…now that many governments around the world are being complacent towards aggressors, and now another country has experienced the effects, with the terrorist attack in Belgium.
The New York Times, which has turned into a rag, mocked Donald Trump for referring to Belgium as a “hellhole.” Well guess what? What is happening in all of our cities including Brussels is downright scary, when peace is disrupted with explosions and death. How about the Boston Marathon, with the finish line turning into a pool of blood?
The photo accompanying this image shows immigrants coming to our shores who were here for a better life and to positively contribute to the country. My grandmother was one of those immigrants…as were many other grandparents. My great-grandfather busted his back, with it literally being twisted from scoliosis as a ship’s plumber. He came here from Scotland, a country that still is plagued with abject poverty (imagine using newspaper instead of toilet paper, as my grandmother did while using the bathroom as a little girl, as well as being the youngest and bathing in the water that everyone more senior than she was in those days did)…and wasn’t rich, but he was happy and built a better life for his family. And because of his move, eventually my grandmother married and had children…and eventually I was born here. By the way, one of my family lines has been here since the late 1600s and was one of the first families to settle in Pennsylvania, even given land to do so.
While I recognize that not all immigrants are coming here for nefarious purposes, many are. And some don’t wish to cross our borders the right way…and are still receiving amnesty here. As well as free benefits. And are coming because there are some in power who wish for the United States, and all that our Founding Fathers built, to be destroyed.
Thanks so much Chelsea Clinton for letting us know that your mother would like undocumented individuals to have healthcare. When I know many citizens, including myself and others…as well as veterans…who have been slighted for healthcare and have had healthcare canceled. My healthcare benefits were mysteriously canceled last year as a citizen with Crohn’s disease and I still don’t know why…and I ended up ill and hospitalized. Thank God I have insurance again that we pay dearly for. But not everyone can afford it under our so called “affordable” system. And you know darn well what Hillary is proposing is meant to garner votes and be given out for free to those who are undocumented.
Let’s not even get into Hillary running – a woman under investigation with the FBI, who has so many shady dealings most of us have lost count. But Hillary Clinton runs the system, so she is allowed to continue to play her games.
On my mind…we need to temporarily ban all immigration into the United States, and travel outside of the United States until the waters are considered “safe.” We must also assess all threats that are here on this soil, including those who speak anti-American sentiments that are of foreign descent, as well as those who are supporting terror who are from this nation too.
Folks, I’m not saying this to be mean or xenophobic. In fact, I’m probably the least xenophobic person you’ll ever meet. In fact, I speak a foreign language (French) fluently and I lived overseas. I also speak some Spanish and German too. I even lived abroad as a student in college in Switzerland, and had an interest in foreign relations, plus a minor in political science. I was always one of the first to befriend the exchange students in school in fact, because I saw that sometimes others didn’t accept them easily because of the cultural differences. This includes students who came from Russia as the effects of the Cold War were thawing out…a group of us hung out together at our school’s winter formal realizing, there were a lot of similarities, not differences, between us as youth.
And I don’t want to hear, “well we are all immigrants,” yada, yada, yada. The entire world has immigrated here or there. That argument is just plain silly. There was conquering going on all over Europe during the early parts of civilization, and other parts of the world, if we want to get real technical about it. But we’re talking about the here and now and that’s that. We’re talking though about things that have worked historically and how to move forward.
France banned all immigration…plus shut down its borders to prevent exit from the country after the attacks in Paris. I know this for a fact because after the senseless killings on Nov. 13 in Paris, a French friend of mine was trying to depart the country to see her grandmother in the U.K. who was on her deathbed. She could not leave France and my friend’s mother could not reenter France. She was beside herself and I reassured her that this measure was only temporary until they assessed the situation.
Not one person who’s now yammering about bias in this country for Trump’s Muslim ban proposal bat an eye with France shutting down including Trump nemesis, Hillary Clinton.
For crying out loud, a friend of mine posted an interesting fact about life in 1964 on her Facebook Page about her attempt to come to the United States as an Italian immigrant. For three years, her family tried and was not allowed entry into the United States. Her mother passed away in the process and never had the opportunity to come here. Did she cry and scream discrimination? No! In fact, my friend now is against some immigration, and definitely against illegal immigration, because she came here the “right” way and views that many who are entering our borders are doing so with hostility and the intent to kill citizens and residents of the United States.
You see, I want my country to stay safe…and it’s logical to do a “quarantine” as Franklin Delano Roosevelt proposed. It’s a way to hone in on the aggressors, address hostile situations and reset safety where issues exist. That safety reset may include interrogating those who are aggressive towards our nation and its citizens, deporting those who are hostile and expressing anti-American sentiments, deporting those who are here undocumented and other measures to make the United States a more safe place to live.
Think about 9/11…what did we do after planes crashed into the World Trade Center, Pentagon and in Pennsylvania? We halted all travel and all entry and exit in and out of the United States. Even travel within the United States itself was grounded. Travel gradually restored to normalcy after it was considered safe again.
In Boston, after the slaughter of innocent citizens at the Marathon, did life go about as normal? No! Those two lunatics were still on the loose and the city was on lockdown! Did police tell people that it was safe to open their doors for particular people or groups? Absolutely not! People opened the doors for no one! In fact, citizens were told to stay indoors and stay safe…people listened…sadly, police officer Sean Collier was murdered in the process, but then, eventually the police honed in on and quarantined the aggressor! And the reign of terror was over.
This is typical even in domestic situations. Think of the attack on the Blooming Grove State Police Barracks in Pennsylvania. Police required a manhunt for killer Eric Frein. We can’t deny Eric Frien was a domestic terrorist (and for anyone blaming guns or the NRA…you need to shut up right now…Eric Frein is a whacko who wore diapers while encamped with his Neo-Nazi/Serbian survival tactics in the woods – if he didn’t have a gun, he would have used something else, like the Boston bombers, who still killed and wounded without firing one shot). What did the manhunt for Frein entail? Lockdown for residents and even closure of schools in some areas until the danger named Eric Frein was quarantined.
The United States is in danger and that danger is on our very soil. There have been many signs that have proven it and have been ignored and not called as they are by those in our highest leadership…acts of Jihad. We need to quarantine this before it worsens and more innocent lives are taken. Just ask those who live in the UK and are now overrun with threats on a daily basis. Just ask UK citizens where their welfare benefits are going, as some have told me when they needed help, they were denied, but foreigners to the UK are even given grants to furnish their homes!
Just a few cases of acts of foreign-inspired terror on U.S. soil?
Brendan Tevlin – murdered on June 25, 2014 by Ali Muhammad Brown, who is also connected to the death of three in Seattle, including two gay men. Brendan Tevlin was murdered simply because he was an American and just because Brown was angry as a Muslim at the United States and its foreign policies. Yet this is often not recognized as an act of terrorism, though this aggressor was being watched for his terrorist activities.
Colleen Hufford – murdered on Sept. 24, 2014 by beheading at her workplace in Oklahoma. Alton Alexandeer Nolen pledged allegiance to ISIS and worshipped Osama Bin Laden. When he was fired from his job he went ballistic and stabbed another co-worker Traci Johnson, and then beheaded Hufford. Prior to that, he had been imprisoned for several offenses including drug charges and assault on a law enforcement officer.
Kenneth Healey – This NYPD rookie officer was attacked with a hatchet in the head by an extremist nut and survived. Zale Thompson hit Healey’s head and then sliced the arm of another officer in Queens. This was not just some random incident, but he had plans to kill, and frequented ISIS Internet sites about jihad and beheadings.
And of course, there have been more and we know that. Lastly, we can’t forget Paris and then the horrific tragedy at San Bernardino Christmas Party with Syed Farook and Tashfeen Malik, who opened fire and murdered 14.
While I don’t normally post photos of criminals, and prefer to honor victims, I am posting a photo of Tashfeen Malik, who some are inflamed, including an Al Jazeera producer and an attorney for Malik’s family, because a photo of her has been posted without a burqa. Well guess what? She gets a special place on my site then with her photo especially for murdering and spearheading this attack, because this is the face who pledged allegiance to ISIS, with her husband joining in. Too bad too sad that she’s not properly veiled, she lost all rights the day she decided to murder 14 innocent people for her own greedy reasons, and take almost a $30,000 payoff from ISIS to do so.
As I said, I am not xenophobic, however, I am xenophobic to ISIS and we all should be no matter our nationality, country we reside in, ethic, religious background or economic class. ISIS has no respect for humanity. They would kill their own family if given the opportunity. They hate everyone not “for” them and they hate each other. Don’t think they would give anyone a fair chance.
And ISIS is of its word. If they say they are going to do something, such as murder someone, or attack a city, we have to take them seriously. Because they do what they say they intend to do. They blend in until they find it’s time to pounce. They have done it before and they will do it again.
It’s those who are on the xenophobia rant who would have a puddle of pee beneath them if they were faced with the evil of ISIS directly, and would have wished they had been smart enough to listen. And forgive me, but if you want to take a risk and allow ISIS activities to go on in our borders, you’re a flying idiot.
And while many are busy in our country attacking Donald Trump for wishing to shut our borders, why did you hypocrites not attack the French government for doing the same when ISIS slaughtered people? Let me remind people how disgusting ISIS is. Look at this horrible attack at Le Bataclan in Paris. This video is upsetting. You hear the pop of gunfire. You see the drummer duck, the guitarist flee the stage and then spectators start to disperse. And of course, the bloody photos of bodies on the theatre floor is another atrocity that has flashed around the world.
The United States needs to take drastic action. We should even think back to the leadership of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Click here for his full “Quarantine the Aggressor” speech. FDR told it like it was. And it is the reflection of the hate in our world that is spreading because we continue to allow it. Hate breeds hate, and ISIS hasn’t gotten better, it’s gotten worse. It’s Al Queda having made a metamorphosis on steroids.
“It seems to be unfortunately true that the epidemic of world lawlessness is spreading. When an epidemic of physical disease starts to spread, the community approves and joins in a quarantine of the patients in order to protect the health of the community against the spread of the disease.” – FDR, 1937
“I am compelled and you are compelled, nevertheless, to look ahead. The peace, the freedom, and the security of 90 percent of the population of the world is being jeopardized by the remaining 10 percent who are threatening a break-down of all international order and law. Surely the 90 percent who want to live in peace under law and in accordance with moral standards that have received almost universal acceptance through the centuries can and must find some way to make their will prevail.” – FDR, 1937
However, I disagree highly with Roosevelt’s paranoid imprisonment of Japanese Americans…so I’m not saying he did the right move there. That’s like blaming all Germans on the Nazi regime with how he imprisoned Japanese Americans.
Yes, I know, I know, Roosevelt shut out good people from entering into the United States like Anne Frank? I’ve seen this flying around too recently on an Internet meme.
First, the whole story is that Anne Frank’s family reportedly attempted to get in here and there were efforts. They could not, likely because of the United States’ stance on “quarantine” under Roosevelt. Roosevelt was not looking to shut the door on good people…but when we need to think of our personal safety of our nation that is an unfortunate side effect with a ban on immigration. But a “quarantine” such as not allowing foreign entrants for a limited time, will eventually renew safety for everyone. And, by the way, it was Cuba where there were plans the Franks could have gone according to this Reuters article, but that travel was also suspended due to the war. But no one is blaming Cuba, but as usual is attacking the United States.
Senator Pat McCarran, a Democrat from Nevada, saw the dangers of allowing free-flowing immigration through the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1952. Though President Harry Truman vetoed the bill, because he found it discriminatory towards those of Eastern European descent, McCarran, who noted the contributions of immigrants, also noted the blocs of “deadly enemies.” He said:
“I do not intend to become prophetic, but if the enemies of this legislation succeed in riddling it to pieces, or in amending it beyond recognition, they will have contributed more to promote this nation’s downfall than any other group since we achieved independence as a nation.”
In my eyes, McCarran was prophetic on this topic.
Truman’s veto was defeated, 278 to 113 and 57 to 26 in the House and Senate. The act has since been modified, including for removal of terrorist suspects, however, obviously this part of the act hasn’t been applied.
Let’s just be sensible everyone…and we’re not. And our government has not been. We have been too lax on allowing undocumented people in and letting them stay even if they had visas that lapsed, as well as on allowing those into our borders who are unfriendly and don’t have the safety of the citizens here at the forefront. There wasn’t even one travel ban initiated after the murders in San Bernardino, those these acts were committed by ISIS members on our soils.
We need to continue to keep safety a priority in United States for those who are here, and for those who would like to come here in the future from all lands. And it will set a standard that all nations can follow for peace in their own borders.
